Canning fruit is one of the easiest and most fun projects for the beginning home canner. Learn all the basic techniques of water bath canning, including tricks that will help preserve the texture of your fruit and not turn them to mush! We will prepare and can approximately 15 lbs of pears from local Collins Family Orchard in Selah, WA. Collins is a fourth generation farm that has been producing beautiful and delicious fruit for over 100 years. They use organic, sustainable farming methods for the best and healthiest fruit possible. The pears are beautiful, flavorful and you will enjoy them all winter long! At the end of class we will discuss upcoming canning classes so your input will help design what classes will be offered in the future!
Please bring a paring knife, peeler and a towel to wrap your still-hot jar of pears for easy transport home.
