[frame src="http://www.seattlefarmschool.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/TaffetaV2.jpg" width="200" link="" target="_self" alt="Taffeta V." align="left" prettyphoto="false"] Hi! I'm Taffeta V.
I live in West Seattle, and I make things. Sparkly things. Weird things. Nerdy things.
Once, I won the Olympics*. [text_styles type="subscript" target="_blank"]* (Gold Medal for Quick Costume Repair in the 2012 Seattle Burlesque Olympics. BUT THAT TOTALLY COUNTS!)[/text_styles]
I am passionate about traditional, hand-sewn embellishment. It's not something people do much anymore, but I love nothing more than to spend hours individually sewing beads and sequins (this we can blame on my childhood obsession with The Carol Burnett Show with Bob Mackie's opulent gowns and witty costume design). Years of blending granny crafts and goth have provided me with a skill set uniquely able to handle odd requests - anthropomorphic bedazzled rat tails, for example - and my personal fondness for sassy chapeaux has translated into millinery work and Headpieces of Unusual Size. I make backstage life easier for performers of all kinds, and often dramatically save the day when the mad gods of live theatre conspire to create a costume emergency.[frame src="http://www.seattlefarmschool.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/TaffetaV.jpg" width="200" link="" target="_self" alt="Taffeta V." align="right" prettyphoto="false"]
I am a costume designer and wardrobe mistress specializing in burlesque, geekery, and fine hand embellishment. I have a book hoarding problem, love classic film, and will find any excuse to wear a hat.
